Planning a Home Renovation Part 3: Furniture Plan & Lighting

As an aspiring vlogger and keen photographer, lighting in my home is extremely important.  And, when you want to go luxe on a budget, lighting can 'make' a room at low cost.  Having a qualified electrician as a husband is handy because my lighting ideas are huge!

Home Renovation; Living on a Building Site

Living on a Building Site; The Good Bad and Ugly!

Well, we are now only three weekends left and this past weekend was FULL ON!  The wall is out and first fix electrics in.  There is dust everywhere, I blew my nose and dust flew out!  In fact, no matter how well we covered things and closed doors, the dust has travelled.  If only it was so easy for me to travel, riding the winds to a far away place with ease and determination.  At this point, I envy dust!

We will probably be cleaning for weeks after Christmas, but for now we, dust an me, live side by side, strategically cleaning in between.

Organise your Laundry in 7 ESSENTIAL STEPS

The Holiday season is almost upon us, and if you're anything like me, it means extras and chaos.  One way to prepare is to declutter all your spaces now, and put an organization system into place.  I have already shared with you my fridge and laundry spaces, if you haven't already, check them out >>>

Small Space Living: Fridge Organization

Living in a small 3 bed railway terrace with 5 other people and a handful of animals can be a challenge.  Yes I am a little OCD, but, my main reason for being organised at home is that if we weren't the time it takes to find anything is a waste that I can not afford.  Being practically housebound for four weeks with a broken toe, gave me time to reflect and re-plan all of my 'hidden' spaces.

Hostess Etiquette

How to be a great host

One of the things I love most is to entertain.  I am known amongst my friends for my dinner, childrens' and booze-up parties, but I have rarely had the opportunity to provide an overnight stay experience; until recently.

I'm a huge fan of the Channel 4 show 'Four in a bed' and have often commented to my Husband that I could ace it as a B&B owner.  But, as always, things are not as easy as they look.

Spring cleaning day 4: Living areas

I apologise for the delay in day 4 post if you have been cleaning along with me.  As Alexander had taken ill and was home for a day and my duties for the funeral being pushed back, it had put my entire schedule out of sync.   However.  As today is the last day before the Easter holiday begins, and my 10 year old will be having a guest over for a sleepover, today is my last attempt to get things done.  There will be a separate day 5 and 6 post although I aim to complete the three days in one!  Wish this supermum luck!

Spring Clean Day 3: Hallways

Day 3 already!  We are halfway through.  Everyone goes back to nursery, school, college and work on a Monday at my house, so it is easier for me to tackle the hallway.

Spring Cleaning Day 1: Bedrooms

Okura Hotel Amsterdam

As promised here is post number 1, starting your spring clean.

I always believe in starting at the top and working your way down, so, on day 1 we start in the bedrooms.  As we are starting on a Saturday everyone is home so help is at hand.  This Saturday my children have a birthday party to go to so a lot will need to be done before midday!  I aim to start at 9am.

Baby's 1st Birthday Brunch

I had a great time planning and hosting the baby's 1st birthday brunch.  I had wanted it to be a calm sophisticated affair, decorated beautifully with great company and that is exactly what it was.

The look of the rooms you are using, to me, are just as important as the event itself.  All my events are planned carefully, I attempt to stimulate all my guests senses, from the look, sound, scent, taste and feel, when creating an event no matter how small if you are going to do it, you should do it right!
